A Hallyu Fan Becoming an Honorary Reporter: An Induction Ceremony 2021 Reflection

Last May 20, 2021 was the most awaited day for Korea.net Honorary Reporters and K-influencers, most especially to the first time newly appointed Honorary Reporters like me. Funny how I noted it on my calendar so I could not forget to attend the live streaming of the Induction Ceremony. But to my dismay, I completely lost the time and memorized the wrong time schedule, making me unable to attend on the exact day. Brushing off the worries away, I waited for the replay of the online Induction Ceremony that was uploaded on YouTube and watched it to my heart's content. There has been no age and gender boundaries when it comes to adoring South Korea’s entertainment. With the rising interest that people from all over the world invest in the so-called Hallyu wave, Korea lovers also could not resist falling in love with the Korean language. Also, I must say that I am one of these people who could no longer take themselves away from the charm of the Korean language.      Looking back at the very first time that I was introduced with Hangeul last 2014, seeing the Korean alphabet made me so curious that it gave me a strange yet enticing feeling. Never have I thought that I would give myself time to learn how to write and read the Korean alphabet at 15 years old.
