Where Did the Korean Language Take Me?

The immense popularity of K-Pop and Korean dramas seems to be relentlessly growing. There has been no age and gender boundaries when it comes to adoring South Korea’s entertainment. With the rising interest that people from all over the world invest in the so-called Hallyu wave, Korea lovers also could not resist falling in love with the Korean language. Also, I must say that I am one of these people who could no longer take themselves away from the charm of the Korean language.

Looking back at the very first time that I was introduced with Hangeul last 2014, seeing the Korean alphabet made me so curious that it gave me a strange yet enticing feeling. Never have I thought that I would give myself time to learn how to write and read the Korean alphabet at 15 years old. Now, I am so proud of myself that even though I still do not speak Korean just like how native Koreans speak, I can say that I have already come a long way.

I can now write Korean fast on a piece of paper and I am getting used to typing Korean alphabets on a mobile phone. I have also received a lot of compliments from native Koreans regarding my pronunciation and I do think I am getting better each day. I may not speak so fluently enough, but I consider myself better than I was before. After all, I have no one to compete with but myself, and this journey of learning the Korean language has already been a part of my life.

By learning the Korean language, it gave me a lot of opportunities and it led me to where I am today. With the use of my Korean language skills, I was able to upload videos on TikTok showing my speaking skills. Because of this, a lot of people have seen my potential and they have continuously given me positive feedback. I have garnered more than 60K followers because of their interest in watching my Korean language-speaking videos. In addition, it gave me the confidence to build my own YouTube channel because I wanted to share more interesting videos about the Korean language itself, hoping it could reach more people. Because of the Korean language that I incorporate in my YouTube videos, I have acquired 2K subscribers and this is making my heart so full right now.

Yes, because of the Korean language, this is where it has taken me now. My dream of becoming a YouTuber and a content creator in various social media platforms has now come true because of my passion and interest in the Korean language. I hope for a more productive and successful journey of my Korean language learning.
